Under the direction of star sommelier Jochen Benz, the old vaulted cellar has been converted into an in-house winery. With this dual gastronomic concept, Magdalena Mitterhuber has fulfilled her dream of having her own restaurant. Her credo is that an evening at lenis should be inviting and personal for guests, like an evening among friends. For her, this also includes excellent tableware and exquisite glassware, which underline the quality of the food and drinks. To realize this high standard, she has chosen Zwiesel Fortessa.
Upscale dining, but everything still feels relaxed – that’s the motto at “lenis”. The interior also reflects this attitude: rustic walls paired with modern design. The emphasis is on high-quality food and drinks without being pretentious or elaborate. A small menu is served during lunch, while in the evening you can choose between a 3 or 5-course menu with or without wine pairings. The young chef Sinar Tayyara is a master at transforming fresh, high-quality ingredients into unique dishes. For example, the exciting flavor interplay of Norwegian lobster with caviar, beurre blanc and vanilla ice cream.
lenis’ in a few words: Authentic. Honest. With love for what we do. (Magdalena Mitterhuber)
The theme of wine is very prominent at „leni‘s“. An impressive, ceiling-high wine rack in the entrance and an artistic design element consisting of exquisite, illuminated wine bottles make guests pause and marvel. “Wine pairings and wine tastings play a central role for us,” says Jochen Benz. From the outset, the aim was to combine the fine dining restaurant with a winery, where Jochen Benz can immerse guests in the world of wine with his expertise and experience. And the wine standards on offer are high: “When you work in 3 star standard for a long time, you want to showcase good, exciting wines and surprise guests. Thanks to my long-standing relationships with winemakers, I am able to get vintage depth and rarities. But our everyday wines also have to fit and be on point.” Jochen Benz is particularly attracted to grape varieties that are overshadowed by the well-known white wine varieties like Riesling or Silvaner, such as Scheurebe or the easily accessible Müller Thurgau. The attention to detail at leni’s is clearly noticeable – Jochen Benz wanted very special bottles for the impressive wall installation made from wine bottles in the winery, making use of his good relationships with the respective winemaker to achieve this. Magdalena Mitterhuber has an extraordinary sense for the harmony of beautiful things and, together with her team, creates a fine dining restaurant with a feel-good atmosphere. Numerous groups of guests who dine, celebrate and savor dishes here can confirm this. For the team, being a host means being of service in a positive sense. “You should never put yourself above a guest and their wishes. Guests should leave with a satisfied smile and look forward to the next visit.
